CY 2026 Drug & Alcohol Testing
Minimum Random Drug Testing Rate for Calendar Year 2026
PHMSA has officially confirmed that the minimum random drug testing rate will remain at 50% for all covered employees in Calendar Year 2026.
Why? Recent DAMIS data reported a positive random drug test rate above 1%. Under 49 CFR §199.105, that means PHMSA must maintain the rate at 50% for the upcoming year.
This applies to all operators covered under Part 199: gas, hazardous liquid, CO₂ pipelines, LNG plants, and underground natural gas storage.
